E-Signature Built Into Your CRM: Inside Candango's Document Builder

Most CRMs send you to a separate signing tool and charge per envelope. Candango, our sales CRM, builds the entire signature workflow into the deal instead. Here is how it works and why we built it that way.

E-signature built directly into the Candango CRM deal workflow

Most CRMs treat e-signature as someone else's problem: connect a third-party tool, pay per envelope, and hope the integration does not break. Candango, our sales CRM, takes a different approach — the signature workflow lives inside the deal itself, not in a separate app you have to remember to open.

A Builder-First Signing Experience, Not a Modal

Every signable document in Candango opens in a real, deal-scoped builder — blank canvas, a saved template, or an uploaded PDF — edited and sent from inside the deal itself, never from a quick popup. That matters because the documents that actually need signatures — proposals, agreements, scope changes — usually need a real edit first, not just an upload-and-send.

One Status-Filtered View: Drafts, Awaiting, Signed, Declined, Voided

Every document a deal has ever touched lives in one grid, filterable by status, with first-page previews and signer history at a glance. A draft card reopens the builder; a sent card opens the live PDF. No hunting across tabs to find where a document landed.

Multi-Signer, With Real Rules

Sending to a second signer — the deal owner, or someone else on the account — is a single switch, not a separate workflow. Once a document is signed, it is immutable. Voiding cancels it with the signing provider and keeps a permanent voided record; deleting a draft is restricted to admins, so a half-finished document cannot quietly disappear.

Self-Hosted Signing Infrastructure, Not a Per-Envelope Vendor

Under the hood, Candango's e-signature runs on Documenso, a self-hosted, API-first signing engine — chosen specifically because it has no per-envelope fee and no vendor lock-in. Generated documents render to PDF through Gotenberg, our internal HTML-to-PDF service, so a document built visually in Candango becomes a real, signable file without leaving the platform.

What This Means If You're Evaluating a CRM

If your CRM sends you to a separate signing tool, you are paying twice — once for the CRM, once for signatures — and maintaining two systems that were never built to agree with each other. Built-in, deal-scoped signing is one of the clearest examples of what a custom-built system designed around your actual workflow looks like, versus one assembled from someone else's parts. For businesses in West Palm Beach closing deals that involve a signature step, that difference shows up every single time a contract goes out.
